Our Mission

Our mission is to change the physical, emotional, and spiritual futures of homeless and foster children. We are a community-based, church-led partnership designed to solve the Central Florida foster care problem. The problem is one of capacity, stability, and quality. Fostering Our Future is a local movement that is equipping churches for effective ministry to vulnerable children and families in Central Florida’s foster care system.

Like you, I make Central Florida my home and have for the past 30 years. It has a lot of great things happening... unless you’re a child that has become a ward in the care of the state of Florida.

Did you know 78 children; our neighbors, our children’s classmates had to be taken outside of the county for care this past year?  You and I know our community is better than that for our children. There is a continuing need for foster families in Osceola County. There is a problem to be solved to help Osceola. I firmly believe the partnership of your church family will be a major component of solving this problem. Earlier this year the Grace Landing Board of Directors launched “Fostering Our Future” to see how we could help meet the need.

Grace Landing’s desire is that all of our foster children are thriving in the home of a loving and caring Christian family. God’s plan is for the church to take care of our orphans and I am both excited and thankful to see our Pastors step up and be willing to start foster care ministries within their church and to be a leader in the community in helping solve the foster care crisis, by recruiting foster families and volunteers from their pulpits.

Secondly, I’d like to thank our ministry team leaders for their leadership in helping to see the needs of their foster families are being met and for our volunteers, who give up their time at a moment’s notice to help foster families in their journey. Most importantly, to our foster families, who feel God’s call to invite children into their homes, to love and care. God says in Isaiah 1:17, “learn to do good, seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause.”

May God’s blessing be upon your family as we work together to provide justice to the fatherless.

Until every child has a home,

Juda Attkisson (Executive Director, Fostering Our Future)
